GNC Engineer - Space Systems
Overview
A pioneering company in the defense and space sector is seeking a GNC Engineer to help design, develop, and deploy high-performance spacecraft systems. This is an opportunity to work on mission-critical technology across LEO, GEO, and Cislunar environments, contributing to national security and space sustainability.
You’ll own all aspects of GNC development—from early vehicle architecture to real-time operations—within a collaborative, fast-paced engineering team.
Key Responsibilities
Lead end-to-end GNC system development, including vehicle architecture, algorithm design, software implementation, and operations
Design and validate GNC Flight Software and hardware interfaces
Conduct trade studies for key components: reaction wheels, torque rods, thrusters, star trackers, sun sensors, and more
Build and refine high-fidelity 6DOF simulations and Monte Carlo analysis environments
Use and improve control analysis tools to ensure robust performance margins
Collaborate cross-functionally with mechanical, software, and systems engineering teams
Support on-orbit commissioning and anomaly resolution of spacecraft
Minimum Qualifications
B.S. in Aerospace Engineering or related discipline
2+ years of experience in GNC system development for space applications
Proficiency in C++ and Python
Knowledge of spacecraft GNC architecture, controls, orbital dynamics, and attitude determination
Experience with closed-loop control, filtering, and state estimation
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work with minimal oversight
Preferred Qualifications
- M.S. in Aerospace or related discipline
- 4+ years of experience in space GNC systems design and implementation
- Experience with hardware-in-the-loop (HITL) simulations and real-time flight operations
- Hands-on experience with GNC hardware testing
- Familiarity with jitter, smear, and pointing accuracy analysis
- Must be a U.S. Citizen
- Ability to obtain or maintain a TS/SCI clearance
- Role is hybrid, with a mix of remote and required on-site work
- Some physical activity and hands-on technical work is required
